Home away from home
One of the things that always strikes us is the vast array of projects that float through the Amsterdam Yacht Service facilities, from classic sailing superyachts to commercial vessels, tourist boats, and even bridge components.
The 22.9-metre 2000-built Kuipers motor yacht Nageira has been reunited with her owner following successful winter works at the Amsterdam Yacht Service facility in Zaandam, beginning in October and being completed between Christmas and New Year.
For her third visit to the Amsterdam Yacht Service facilities to date, the yacht (which originally cruised under the name of Lucky Jack) underwent a full antifoul and sand-down, through which multiple layers were sanded back in order to remove an imperfect layer. This entailed more than 300 hours of sanding from Amsterdam Yacht Services’ dedicated team, before she was delivered back to her owner.
Having paid two previous visits to the shipyard to date, the first round of works on motor yacht Nageira entailed a haul-out and respray of her topsides between late 2021 and early 2022, (necessary due to damage sustained after a collision with another vessel), for which the shipyard constructed a special, tailor-made container hall covered by a tent, in order for these to take place.
Storms experienced by the Netherlands in February 2022 caused the tent to break and partially fall on Nagiera, halting progress, however, thanks to the determination of her owner, Nageira benefitted from her second round of works between March-May 2022. These entailed repairing the antenna mast, repairing and repairing the antennas, respraying parts of the antennas, the superstructure, and the topsides, redoing the stainless steel bulwarks/railings, a window and revarnishing the interior where it had undergone damage.
Now sanded to perfection and presented in turn-key condition back to her happy owner, Nageira is ready to kick off 2024 with a bang.
