Mooring for large yachts
Large ships and yachts need space. When you bring your vessel into our yard, we offer moorings for ships from 8 up to 85 metres in length. Here, we provide water and electricity supplies, all conveniently located around our shipyard. We also support you by providing concierge services, so your stay at Amsterdam Yacht Service meets all your needs. Our moorings are non-tidal and 5 metres in-depth, as they follow the external stretch of water known as the North Sea Canal.
From fishing vessels, steel commercial ships and classic Dutch barges to yachts and superyachts, Amsterdam Yacht Services has welcomed vessels of every type to its extensive facilities. Now, as the shipyard continues to grow its business by offering its broad expertise to a range of sectors including classic yacht and superyacht refit, it is expanding its capabilities in a very physical sense too.
The shipyard recently opened its wood workshop to cater to carpentry demands across a range of classic and superyacht projects, and now it has made significant changes to other parts of the yard to expand its capacity to host significant yacht projects, for which the team already boasts experience working with yachts from Royal Huisman, Van Lent, Hakvoort, and others.

The changes include the removal of the old floating dock, which has been replaced by a significant new jetty, plus an expansion of onshore facilities. “The old floating dock has been sold and we’re waving goodbye to it,” says Robert Binnekade, managing director of Amsterdam Yacht Services. “It’s been with us since 1973 but it was an old-style dock and it needed work to get it back up to acceptable standards. Although it was long it was also narrow – narrower, in fact, than what our travel lift can take – so it wasn’t worth the investment as we wouldn’t have enough work for it.”
In its place, the shipyard has added an 85-metre jetty offering berthing on both sides, served with the essentials such as water and electricity. “It’s perfect for yachts and we can take superyachts of significant size on either side,” says Binnekade. “We see a lot of demand for works done in water rather than being hauled out, and being next to the main part of the shipyard we will also be able to step and unstep masts in the water, and also do things like take out the anchor and chain without needing to haul out. The jetty gives us a lot of additional space – in fact, we’ve already had interest from our neighbours because everyone wants in-water space!”

In addition to the new jetty, the shipyard has also added a further 560 square metres of concrete hardstanding, significantly expanding the space available for haul-out works and refit projects for vessels of all types, including yachts and superyachts. “Our lift has a capacity of 480 tons, although we’ve lifted more than that before by adding a telecrane, and the longest yacht we’ve lifted so far was a 64-metre Baltic sailing yacht,” Binnekade enthuses. “The new hardstanding area combined with the new jetty, plus the addition of our wood workshop on top of the extensive in-house skills and experience we offer means Amsterdam Yacht Services is better placed than ever to exceed the demands of all types of new-build, maintenance, refit and rebuild projects. We’re really excited to welcome some very interesting projects to the shipyard – watch this space!”
