64m | M/Y ” Hakvoort”
December 2023 marked another significant milestone for Amsterdam Yacht Service, as its highly experienced team carried out its first ever marriage of a hull and superstructure.
The event took place over the course of just one day for the 64-metre Hakvoort motor yacht which has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Prior to this process, the hull had been delivered on a keel and the superstructure had been delivered on a barge. Amsterdam Yacht Service performed the haul-out and lifting of the superstructure using its travel-lift, and placed it on top of the hull.
As a process, this ‘marriage’ at AYS offered the client a far more efficient alternative to standard procedure, during which a telecrane would be rented – upon which the marriage would take place – with finesse work needing to take place afterwards, following the use of numerous chains and wrenches to secure the vessel into position. This novel use of a travellift ensured that these works could be done immediately and in the correct position, without the need for additional hassle.
Furthermore, as indiciated by the Hakvoort project, Amsterdam Yacht Service is pleased to be able to offer support prior to the outfitting stage of a vessel, alongside all of its other wide range of services, as Amsterdam Yacht Service Director Robert Binnekade explains: “Thanks to our in-house expertise, our assistance to clients covers all of the disciplines and stages across yacht building: it can range from purely providing the facilities for sea trials, through to redoing piping, stainless steel work, outfitting and assisting with the final delivery of a yacht and so much more.”
